Privacy Policy — InQR
Last updated: September 15, 2026
This policy describes what InQR (“the app”) does and does not do with your information. The short version: the app doesn’t collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. Everything you enter stays on your device.
No accounts, no sign-in
The app has no user accounts, no login, and no way to identify you personally. There is no backend server for the app’s core functionality — items, tasks, objects, QR codes, and attachments are stored entirely in the app’s local storage on your device.
What the app stores, and where
- Your data (items, tasks, storage objects, notes, QR code records, barcode memory) is stored locally on your device using standard on-device storage (AsyncStorage).
- Photos and videos you attach to items, tasks, or objects are copied into the app’s private storage area on your device (not a cloud service).
- None of the above ever leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export it (see “Backup & export” below).
Permissions the app requests, and why
| Permission | Why the app asks |
|---|---|
| Camera | To scan QR codes and product barcodes, and to take photos/videos for attachments. Camera frames are processed on-device only. |
| Photo library | To let you attach an existing photo or video, and to save generated QR code labels to your library. |
| Microphone | Only used if you record a video attachment that includes audio. Never accessed otherwise. |
| Notifications | To show local reminders for timers and due tasks. These are scheduled entirely on your device — the app does not use push notifications and does not register your device with any notification service. |
You can deny any of these permissions; the specific feature that needs it simply won’t work, and the rest of the app is unaffected.
The one exception: barcode lookup
When you scan a retail product barcode the app hasn’t seen before, it makes a single outbound request to Open Food Facts, a free, publicly-hosted product database, to look up the product’s name. Only the barcode number itself is sent — no account information, no device identifier, and nothing else about you or your data. If the lookup fails or you’re offline, you can simply type the product name in yourself. Once a barcode has been looked up (or entered manually), the app remembers it locally so it never needs to ask again for that same barcode.
This is the app’s only network request. Everything else works fully offline.
Backup & export
The app includes an optional “export backup” feature that packages your data into a file and hands it to your device’s own share sheet — you choose where it goes (a Files app, cloud storage, email, etc.). The developer never receives this file or any data in it; the app has no server to send it to even if it wanted to.
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking
The app does not use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or any third-party tracking. It does not build a profile of your usage or share information with advertisers.
Children’s privacy
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all.
Data deletion
Since all data lives on your device, uninstalling the app removes it. There is no server-side account or record to separately request deletion of.
